Commitment to Access
Accessibility Statement
Rhode Island Education Center for H.O.P.E. (RIEC) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. RIEC aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Our website, rieducationcenter.org, is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to reach full conformance and remediate identified issues on an ongoing basis.
Technical Specifications
Our website relies on the following technologies for conformance:
- HTML5
- CSS3
- WAI-ARIA 1.1
- JavaScript (React / Next.js)
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA in full. Known limitations include:
- Third-party embedded content — The Donorbox donation widget is provided by a third-party vendor. We cannot guarantee full WCAG conformance for that embed. A direct-contact fallback (phone and email) is always available.
- Color contrast in decorative elements — Some decorative icons and accent colors are under review and are being updated to meet non-text contrast requirements (WCAG 1.4.11).

Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility issue, you may contact the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Office for Civil Rights or file a complaint under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act or the Americans with Disabilities Act.
